Mood board

This morning I put together my first 'mood board' for a Marketing meeting at the studio I work for.
A mood board is a large board covered in images and used as a form of visual stimulation. It's used to represent the 'feel' of intended advertising, or to explore a number of alternatives. This is a good way of researching ideas for advertisements that are not yet made.
Every 6 months we change the theme that our studio uses for it's advertising campaigns. At the moment the theme is "No one knows Out-of-Home like EYE do" and very much typography focused. We are about to launch the next theme, so today we pitched to the broader marketing team our creative concepts (for the next 3 themes) with the assistance of a mood board.
Basically, the designers at EYE pulled together some visuals as starting concepts for these themes and chucked them together on one board. Unfortunately I have to blur the text because of our competitors. A lot of work has gone into developing these new slogans therefore I can not reveal what they are, which in tern doesn't make much sense to you as to why those images were chosen.
(insert pic of work space at studio and at home)
I really like this mood board concept. I guess it's what we've always done subconsciously at Fine Arts in our studio spaces, just pinning up images and design that we like or don't like. And today I was able to chuck one together with some print outs, foam board and double-sided tape for a design concepts pitch. Good exercise.
There's a flickr page dedicated to mood boards that's pretty cool
